Italian Names

Italian names consist of one or more given names and family name.

Italian given names were traditionally derived from those used by famous saints. See European names. Among some Italians it is customary to name the first son after the father's father, the first daughter after the father's mother, the second son after the mother's father, and the second daughter after the mother's mother.
