Meaning & History

Originating from the name of a market town in Wiltshire. Legend has it that the Mound is the burial site of Merlin and that the name of the town, Marlborough comes from Merlin's Barrow.

Around 1600AD the 1st Earl of Marlborough was titled. Earl's were often referred to by their title name and it is from this that Marlborough probably originated as a first name.
