As my husband and I were chosing a name for our 3rd child and came up with "Zane ". We found that this name is a English version of "John " and had the same meaning as John .

Interesting :) In Greece "Zanes" (pronounced zanEES) is also sometimes used as a verion of Yiannis (John ).

Zane means " God's gracious gift" or " God is gracious".... from the Hebrew root name " John".
