[Opinions] Taran
WDYTO Taran for a boy? I've been doing a bit of research if anyone's interested in that side of it ...
It was one of several names (namely Ternan, Taran, Torannan and Taranis) given to the Irish saint after whom the Hebridean island Taransay is named. His name is apparently related to the word for "thunder", in Gaelic or Old Norse. Very little is known about the (6th-century) saint, except that he was a Pictish bishop ... but he seems to have been a well-intentioned enough chap and his name was nice ;-) "His" island (Taransay being "Taran's island" in Old Norse) is absolutely beautiful in photographs, albeit near uninhabitable and very much out in the sticks. They filmed the BBC programme "Castaway" on it a couple of years ago, and I believe you can get there by boat, should anything possess you to do so lol.
So, now that that's cleared up, WDYTO Taran? These are the combos I've thought of so far, but new suggestions welcome!
Taran Gabriel
Taran Gabriel Skye (too island-y? Skye being after the slightly more civilised island, of course)
Cassidy Taran (Here, bear in mind that Cassidy hasn't become a fashionable girls' name, so that wouldn't be so much of a problem)
Taran Jonah Skye
Connell Taran
Taran Lughaidh (LOO-ee)
Taran Connell Rhett
Thanks in advance,
Elinor:-)

it's an ok name for girl or boy, i think the guy who played the younger son on home improvement name is taran. i also had a friend in hs (girl) whose name was taryn i kinda like this sp.
I don't care for Taran, and I think it's too feminine for a boy. I like the name Gabriel, but I don't think it flows with Taran.
Like Taran. looks nice written down. does remind me a bit of a drum beat though so i dont think i could ever use it myself.
I like Taran Jonah Skye the best as i just love the name Jonah. I cant use it though as husband Joe.. I think Jonah Skye just goes the best too. dont know your history , sorry. are you pregnant? is this for a real baby? it will be really unusual if it is, which in my opinion is a good thing.

No, I'm not pregnant - I'm just really interested in names :-) Thanks for your feedback1
