[Opinions] Luca for a girl?
I was thinking one day and I dont like the name Luca, I always like Lucas more, spelled with a k (Lukas). I dont know why. But then I got to thinking, Luka would make a cute name for a girl. Well, at least I thought so. I looked up Luca on BTN, and it turns out, it IS a girl name...its Hungarian for the fem form of Lucius. Not crazy about that, but sure, I like it.What do you think of Luca for a girl? No matter what you say, I am still going to love it, but want your opinions. I think its going up and becoming set in stone if I can find a nice combo, like I did with Blair Eugene.

Well, according to a Hungarian pronunciation guide, "c" is pronounced as "s", and this seems reasonable as it's a form of LuciusBut either way, I don't like Luka, for a girl, but I love if for a boy

I like it for a girl and a boy.

I always think of it as a girl's name anyway 'cos my friend's sister was Luca (my friend was Lara, short for Larissa). Their mum was Iranian I think.

In different countries, Luca can by for a boy or a girl. It may seem feminine, because of the ca ending, but I see it only for a boy. But, I don't care for it for either gender. I see Blair only for a girl, because I know a Blair (16-years-old), plus I'm reading Skipping Christmas by John Grisham, and the daughter's name is Blair. Also, I think of the movie The Blair Witch Project. But, I don't care for it for either gender. I do like Eugene.

Actually, I think it be could be used both ways.

I think it works fine on a girl, although I prefer it on a boy myself. Many people would take it as a feminine form of Luke anyway, when they saw it.

Since this site says that Luca is unisex (but by different origins), I'll let it pass. However, I much prefer it on a boy (and believe it or not, if you look at the popularities of this name it is rising on the boy's charts). Also, I thought it was only a boy's name (or at least supposed to be) until you mentioned otherwise.

I think it's really pretty for a girl. I think a 90210 actress named her baby Luca Bella.

I think it's Jennie Garth and her husband Peter Facinelli, but in that case, I think it's wrong, because they seemed to be trying to give their daughter an Italian name "Luca Bella Facinelli", but Luca is male in Italy, just like every Italian I've known named "Andrea" was male (see also singer Andrea Bocelli). I read the other posts and saw that Luca is fem in Hungarian, but it's not in Italian, and not pronounced the same, so I don't like people using the Italian pronunciation but deciding to make it female.
