[Opinions] Latinate vs. French forms
On another message board, I was reading a post talking about how, with many names with different forms that fit the subject, how the latinate ending (i.e. -a for girls) is currently often more fashionable than the French endings (-e or a similar suffix). This person was wondering when the trends will switch around. I have provided a link to this discussion below:

What I was wondering is which forms do you generally prefer? As for me, I like some from each category; it depends on the individual names.

I like Latinate forms, and since I am first generation American (my family is from Italy), I prefer using these because they are more linked to my roots. I do prefer some French forms:
Gabrielle vs. Gabriella
Charlotte vs. Carlotta
Therese vs. Teresa
But I still like:
Arianna vs. Ariane
Chiara/ Clara vs. Claire
Emilia vs. Emily
Ilaria vs. Hilary
Isabel/ Isabella vs. spelling Isabelle
Sophia vs. Sophie
Eliana vs. Eliane
Mirella vs. Mireille
Maria vs. Marie
and the list goes on. ;)
