[Facts] What does my name mean?
I beleive my name is German in origin and it is male but I have also read about a female with the name of Rommel. There was a German general by the name of Rommel who worked for Hitler but then turned against him, he was called the Desert Fox. I have also found several writers with the name both male and female and I would like to know what my name means.

Rommel is Dutch for.... Well... Mess.
Not so much in the sense of garbage, but Mostly in the sense of a cozy, homey mess.
My uncle's cat was named Rommel, but I don't know if the name Rommel has anything to do with the Dutch translation of the word.

According to the Genealogy Center (http://hermes.spaceports.com/~webgen/) Rommel is derived from Middle Low German "rummeln", i.e., to make a noise or create a disturbance Herr Rommel -- probably the only universally admired Nazi -- certainly did his share in raising hell during WWII. Variations are Rommele, Rommler, Rummel, Rummele, Rummler .
I wonder where my name comes from and what it means origanially.
I think it is German.
