[Opinions] wdyto ... Cinderella
This used to be my favourite name when I was about ... 5 :D
I insisted on calling everything I owned (dolls, pets etc) Cinderella nn Della
I think it was quite popular with gypsy travellers in the past (I also met on with this name although she called herself Ella)
So wdyt?

NOTE: I will NOT be calling any future daughters Cinderella ... just wanted opinions :)

Of course the immediate association is Disney. Personally I wouldn't name my child that. Then again I love the name Oscar.....yet the Grouch pops into my mind over that one. If you love it use it. I have also heard of the name Cinder that you might consider.
I've got a soft spot for Fairytale names ...
but I think I'd stick w/ variant or extended versions of them. Currently, I kind of like Isabelle w/ the nn Belle but I would never name my daughter just Belle. I also like Ella for Cinderella but thats as far as I'd go & unfortunately I hate Ariel and I'm not a big fan of Aurora - I'm very into Disney & the Disneyfication of these tales and I think too many princesses would ruin the "magic" of it all (just like all those annoying children in their costumes at Disneyland LOL).

It's nice for a doll, but just that...
Does Cinderella means literally something in English? Because in Catalan it's Ventafocs and it means something like "the one that fans the fire", so, not even for a doll, I think... :-D

I don't think it does, just 'from the ashes/cinders' or something.
Like I said in my post .... WOULDNT use it! :D

Cinderella has too many Disney movie connotations. I do like Ella, though.
Lovely sound, but I wouldn't use it on a real life girl. I've read a story where the nn was Derry - that's quite nice IMHO.
We used to have a girl at our theatre and her mother was named Cinderella. We asked her about it and she said her mother named her that because she wanted all of her daughter's dreams to come true. V. sweet reason, no?

In theory I love the sound of it, and it was a nice fairytale. Even the meaning is cute. But I just can't see a real child named Cinderella ... though I'm sure it's only a matter of time before a celebrity does it ;-)
I like the sound of Cinderella, but like you, wouldn't use it for a child. I prefer Cynthia or Ella in that case. ;)
Cinderella...not really. I don't really like the "Rella" part. I like Cinders for a NN, though. ^ ^
