Read Shakespeare's 'The Merchant of Venice'
Somehow you managed to skip right over the entire front page of this site! Wow! But that's okay, click on the blue Jessica here and you will have your answer.

What i find really interesting about the Jessica citation in Mike's database is that it refers to Yahweh, which in turn is shown as a (first) name! Mike doesn't state that, but the inference must be made from its presence on the list.
Aside from cultists and Rastafarians, anyone aware of a child having been named Yahweh? (sic) Even more so than the Spanish "Jesus", a pretty big pair of sandals to fill...

The name Jessica means "Graceious Gift Of God." The name means that we are important. That all Jessicas are a gift to people and we are needed.
No, I've never heard of any person named Yahweh. But I've also never heard of any real people named Quetzalcoatl, Belenus or Lucifer, all of which are in the database. I don't want to limit myself to only first names belonging to real people - gods, goddesses and fictional/mythological characters are also fair game.
In the near future I am planning to add two more bits of information to each name entry in the database: pronunciation and usage. The usage info should clear up any confusion about the Yahweh entry, as it would provide me a convenient place to note that it is not in use among mortals.

Pronounciation
It may be more practical to include .wav files (disk permitting) for pronounciation. If so, I gladly volunteer to send you pronounciation of the Greek names :)

Audio files would be cool, and fun to make. But I fear they would chew up too much bandwidth (data transfer, which costs $$$) so I'm going to stick with text. Right now I'm looking into alternatives for a simple pronunciation system.
Hi Mike, long time no see! I'm really excited about the pronunciation addition, there are TONS of names in here that I would love to know how to say. Great idea!

Hey, Mike...
I remember awhile back when Mike e-mailed me on Hebrew names (hey, being a Jew as well as a Satanist comes in handy!), and he was planning to include Yahweh in his list. No, I don't know of anyone having ever named a child "Yahweh" before, either. But I think (and correct me if I'm wrong here, Mike) that Mike's intention was just to provide some etymological background on the name itself.
