[Opinions] Dutch name...
When I was in Africa, there was a Dutch couple who live on the mission campus I was at and they had two children: Merel Teresa and Elmo Boaz.
Merel was an adorable 4 year old with short blond hair and big blue eyes. I think Merel is a very nice name... what do you think? Do you have any associations with it?
Also what spelling do you like the best, or what is the easiest most natural) to spell to you?
Merel, Merell, Meril, Merill, Merrel, Merrell, Merril, Merrel? Or any of these spellings with an 'a' for the second letter?
Thanks for your input!

I like it, and I would only spell it the original way: Merel. The meaning's cute, I think.

yeah it's pretty. I think Merell seems more natural.
'Merel' is the original Dutch form. How much more original can you be?! Unless you want to anglicise the name, which I personally don't like.
Oh Merel is cute, I like this spelling best

Merel: It's a little black bird, and a favourite girlsname in the Netherlands.
I would spell it like the Dutch couple did...Merel
greetz
Hilde from the Netherlands

I second that, *please* use the only proper and correct spelling: Merel. :|
The English equivalent for the name of the bird is 'blackbird', btw.

Lucille (who is from the Netherlands as well)
