Anthem, meaning a song of loyalty to a country or a choral setting of Bible verses, is a word that has existed for over 1500 years, so Great Granny wasn't getting ahead of herself.
However, you might know the name Anthea; it is derived from anthos (flower in Greek) and an anthemion is a little flower. Usually used for those carved decorations on the tops of pillars and columns that look like bunches of leaves. Take your pick.
