I saw an author with the fn Cockburn. I think it's awful and that it sounds pervy (like a venereal disease). WDYT?Claire

pronunciation......of the surname is often exactly like Coburn (the ck is silent). Maybe that's how his name is pronounced. I hope so, anyway. The first time I saw the surname Cockburn I cringed, but then I realized it wasn't being pronounced that way. - chazda

heehee my work experience supervisor when I was 15 was called mr. Cockburn (pronounced KO-burn).
Wouldn't you pronounce it that way if your surname was Cockburn? LOL

Icky!Awful. And now I'm going to be very crude (so stop reading if that'll be a bother--I've give you all some words that have no particular importance here because I understand how it's very easy to keep reading and have the meaning sink in later), and I'll say that it sounds like someone's burnt his penis. Since most people don't associate cocks with roosters these days.So I think it's awful. I hope it was his mother's maiden name--it's the only way I could think to excuse it.
