Message: "Perrin..." - Behind the Name

Today I met a man named Perrin. Maybe it is a form of Perrine. He is college-aged and American. I love this! It's so cute. I love the idea of the nn Perri. Unfortunately I did not ask him about his name, maybe next time. What do you think of this name, despite its not officially being in the database. Ever hear of it before?

Also I just looked it up again and the the name Perun, which is Slavic for thunder. WDYTO this name as well?

I don't like Perrin as it looks too LOTR (is it Perrigrin?)

Perrin (peh-riwn) is the male form of Perrine in France. It's cute but very old fashioned :)

"Perrin, French: An obsolete diminutive of Pierre." Perrine is the feminine form of it, I believe.

I've only heard it as a surname - The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin is a Britcom from the 70s.

My maiden name was Perry, and that's what it reminds me of. I'm rather fond of the names Perrine and Perry. (I also like the nn Perri for Perrine). I don't think that I like it so much as to ever use it, however, except as a possible middle name for one of my children.
