It is pronounced like "goo-NILL-ah". Actually the U-sound does not exist in English. Gunilla is one form of Gunnar.

To me Gunilla is very pretty and feminine. But I realize that to Americans not familiar with the name, it may sound like "gorilla" and "guerilla".

Hey... To be honest, it makes me think of a gorilla with a gun. Maybe it's pronounced goo-NEE-ah? Still don't think that's attractive though, sorry.

I like the way it sounds, but unfortunately it not only contains the word "gun", but is also derived from "war" and "battle", and therefore I could never use it.
