There are several Amalie in my family. It is ah-mah-lyuh or ah-mah-lyeh (like in men, pet...)

Am-uh-lee. I don't care for it. If you're only using it as an alternative for Emily, then I'd say use Emily.

My husband is from Denmark, so we have to think of names that can be said in Danish and in English. In Danish it's ah-may-lee-eh.

Well then...If you're trying to achieve that pronunciation, then I'd suggest (if you're living in America, for example), spelling it as Amalia. But, that can also be pronounced as Am-all-yuh.

In German it is am-a-lee. One of my favourite names :-)
