I am reading a book and one of the main characters has a name I have never heard (or read) before. Any ideas?

I think Ianthe (check link) a wonderful name, Mila!
It is pronounces ee-AN-thee (-thee as in think).

My guess is something like the english word "lance" but replacing the _ce_ sound with an unvoiced _th_
so...the ASCII-IPA would be... /lanT/

Actually, the name starts with an uppercase i, not a lower case L. I would say ee-AWN-thay, but I believe the modern Greek pron. is YAWN-thay.(Pavlos might be able to help)
