As you know, Japanese language has many 'kanji', i.e. chinese characters. 'Emiko' can be written with many different 'kanji', so 'Emiko' can be the meaning of 'a kind, beautiful child'iŒb”üŽqjor 'a smiling child'iÎŽqjor 'a picturesque, beautiful child'iŠG”üŽqjor 'a prosperous, beautiful child'i‰h”üŽqjand so on.
By the way, 'Emiko' is rather old fashioned, conservative name...not so many young girls have the name 'Emiko'!
Sorry for my poor English

Notre Dame's college in Japan has a great Japanese-English Dictionary Interface (JEDI).
http://www.notredame.ac.jp/cgi-bin/jedi-inon
One of the dictionaries that it interfaces with is "enamedict" a dictionary of names. That dictionary returns 55 different ways of writing "Emiko" in kanji.
