[Opinions] Tyco and Kendall
So, I was washing out my formula bag for about the billionth time in my life... when I suddenly realised it had two names written on it! :-o
The first was Tyco (see Tycho). I did a little search and found out the Tyco referred to the manufacturer, Tyco Healthcare. Now, I don't care for the spelling Tyco, but as Tycho or Tyko (the Swedish spelling) I think it wouldn't be so bad as a mn. As a fn it's a little too out there for me.
The second name was Kendall. I couldn't find out what Kendall referred to, though the name's written in much bigger lettering than Tyco. Anyway, I wouldn't use Kendall because it reminds me of "Ken doll", but if I were forced to use it, it'd be for a boy only. It sounds so trendy and already-tired on a girl imo, but on a boy it sounds much more refreshing and rather Victorianesq (I feel the same way about Ashley, Lindsay, and a whole lot of other such names, btw).

I like Tycho. Tyge Brahe was a Danish astronomer, better known as Tycho (which is how it was Latinized). There's also a wonderful children's book from the 1950s called The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet which has an awesome character named Tycho. I like it as a fn, because it's unusual but not TOO "out there" imo. I also like Tyge, but nobody could pronounce it correctly in the USA so I wouldn't use it unless I lived in Denmark. Same goes for Trygve, which I like better (completely different name, but similar sounds).
Kendall is nms, but I definitely prefer it on a boy.

Tycho is really cool--there was some scientist by that name--but it immediately makes me think of the company that makes remote-control cars. Then, it sounds like "psycho."
Kendall's a nice name for a boy. :) I have twin cousins (just born--apparently they're adorable) named Kendall and Trevor. Unfortunately, Kendall's a girl. :( When our great aunt wrote us about their birth, she said something along the lines of "And Array should like Trevor's name. It's old English." But she said nothing about Kendall, and I don't blame her.
Array (who does like Trevor, incidentally)

I do not think I care for the name Tyco spelled any way.
Kendall I love for a girl not sure I like it for a boy now that it is such a pretty girls name.
