I wouldn't say it sounds Asian, but to me it sounds like a girl down south or out west. It sounds soap opera-ish, ala Kayla. I actually much prefer Sheila!

I like the sound of Shayla (shie-lah to me), but it looks trendy/trashy to me. What about Shayna (shie-nah or shay-nah depending on the accent)?

No, it sounds ugly, trashy, and made-up.

It doesn't sound Asian at all to me. It just sounds tryndee. There's a Shaylee in my little sister's class who's an awful mooch, and that's who I think of when I hear the name Shayla.Array

Shayla only has one pronunciation (SHAY-la). It doesn't sound Asian at all. It sounds American Made-Up Trendy.

I agree too. I much prefer Shayna (a real Yiddish name).EDIT: Oops! Somehow I confused Hebrew with Yiddish. D'oh!

My Boyfriends Niece is called Shayla. She is now 4 and I think the name fits her so well.
I really like the name, its unusual but still easy to pronounce.
I think it will age quite well.

That's just an odd question, and it's pretty obvious how it would be pronounced. I really dislike the name anyway.

I don't think it sounds particularly asian at all. I've only ever known it to be pronounced SHAY-la, not SHEE-la.

I don't think it's Asian sounding. If it was/is, who cares? I don't care for it - I don't think it would age well. I pronounce it as SHAY-la. I've never it it pronounced as SHEE-la.

Delilah (the radio person..*can't think of the name for it*) has a daughter named Shayla. I always like it when she says it, but I don't really think it would age well because I can't see a 45-year-old named Shayla. Anyway, to answer your question, it doesn't sound Asian.-Seda*
