[Opinions] Kansas for a girl?
Kansas is John Carradine's (actor) granddaughter's name. What do you think of it? I think it's cute!

It's interesting ... I'd need a while to get used to it, but I do think it's quite sweet. As with any placename, I hope the parents chose it with some affection for the region in mind, rather than on sound alone.

I like the word Kansas. It looks and sounds cool. I've actually found several babies names Kansas on Growing Family. Most were boys.
*strange look*
I don't like it. I think its because New Englanders have a thing for making fun of "Kansasians"

Uh, well, as much as I love (or, on a bad day, tolderate) my state, I think there are probably better place names to name your child after. But that's just me.
It actually reminds me of a character in a cheerleading movie called Sugar and Spice that I saw a few years back. For that reason, the name is feminine to me. Of course, there's always the band association. Like Miranda said, the name would need a distinct masculine or feminine middle name, just in case.
Mr Daniels: This is punishment, gentlemen, not party time.
Logan: Well, that would explain the absence of balloon animals.

I actually kind of like it. It's not my style but somehow I find it kind of cool.
I don't love it for either gender, but I'm not a big fan of place names anyway. I think there could be a teasing issue because the words "can" (almost meaning butt, I guess you could say...lol) and "ass" are both heard in the name. :( And then there's "we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto." Ack. Or maybe I just have a dirty mind. :b

Kansas. Is. NOT. A. Name.
Hm... At first I didn't like it at all, but now it's grown on me slightly, at least to the point of tolerance.
But as with all place names that are, well, really "place namey", I prefer that the family have a legitimate connection to the place. I don't like place names when they're picked simply because "it sounds pretty"; that's just silly imo.
I think Kansas sounds pretty unisex, but the kid would need a 100% male or female mn imo to clarify the sex.

Bleh. In my opinion, it'd only work for really big fans of the band, and then on a boy. As a middle name.

I don't like it at all. For a girl or a boy.
