How about Rose Elizabeth Roma or Juliet Roma Elizabeth - this one flows plus it has one name you like, which is important I think, and two names that mean something to you.

Why must the two be mutually exclusive?

You should like, nay, love the name you give your dd. Helena has a great deal of meaning. So do Catalina (Spanish nn for Caterina, Catherine of Aragon's family used to call her Catalina), Ciara (KEER-a, a traditional Irish girl's name), Juliet (Shakespeare gives it meaning), and Arabella (an old English name with plenty of history.)

There are other nns for Elizabeth. Ellie, Ella, Elsie, Elsa, Eliza, Lizzie, Libby, Lilibet, Lily, Bette, Betty, Betsy, Bess, Bessie, Lisette, Lee.

If you want to honor Jane Austen and her character Elizabeth Bennett, then how about Cassandra Jane? Cassandra was Jane Austen's sister, whom she was very close to and the role model for Jane Bennett in P & P. But only if you like the sound of Cassandra, mind you.

Your grandmother sounds like a lot of fun. By all means use it, but if you don't love the sound, then use it as a mn.

I like Elizabeth, Rose, Jane, Catalina, Juliette (that spelling only), and Helena.

I dislike naming children after literary characters, as they aren't real, and I think honoring should be reserved for family only. So, if you're only using Elizabeth because of the book, then I'd take it off of the list. Since Roma is a family name, I'd suggest using it as the middle name.

Can't you do both? Elizabeth Catalina, Rose Arabella (Arabel-Rose is one of my favourite names), Roma Juliet--if you can't decide, put in one of each.

I think that it's extremely important to honour family members and other influences on your life, but that it's also very important to use the names that call to you. You've got a good set of names there, and they'd combine very nicely.

That said, what about Rosella? That would cover both Rose and Ella, and it'd be a lot less popular than either. :) Rosella Jane or something similar would be very pretty.

I would definitely go for option (b). Catalia, Ciara, Juliet, Arabella and Helena are all gorgeous names.

Elizabeth (prefer Elisabeth) is lovely but yes, chronically overused. And because that's been the case for so long, it just sounds generic now.

To me, honouring is not necessary. There are many ways to keep someone's memory alive, but in my own family circle, using their name has never been one of them. Your child will use their name everyday, you will say it everyday, so it's as well choosing something aesthetic.

Why not just use the meaningful names as middle names? Ciara Elizabeth or Ciara Roma would be nice.

Elizabeth Bennet is deffinately a great role model. I see Elizabeth as a very popular name, but I actually don't know that many. It's just a name that is always there.

Roma Elizabeth sounds good, if you are looking for a combo. Elizabeth Roma no flow so well to me. Though Roma Elizabeth and known by second name. Eliza and Lizzie in P&P.

Pick a name you love and use the other names for MNs. I love Roma it is so different and very pretty and cool sounding. I would not worry about the popularity of a name if you love it.

Maybe you could name her Elizabeth Roma and call her Ella since people use Ellie as a nickname for Elizabeth anyways. Eliza is also a nice nickname for Elizabeth. I don't really care for the name Roma, but if you like it a lot and really want to honor your great grandmother, it would work well as a middle name. Or maybe you could give her one name that has a special meaning for you and another that you simply just really like (i.e. a first name that you happen to just like quite a bit and then the name with the family connection or other special meaning as the middle name - or vice versa). You could also give her two middle names (ex. Ella Juliet Rose, Elizabeth Juliet Rose, Ciara Elizabeth Jane, etc.)

I love the name Elizabeth for the Elizabeth Bennet connections too! You could always name her Elizabeth and call her Eliza or Lizzie, like they do in P&P. If I ever used the name, I'd call her Lizzie for sure! Anyway, Roma is nice too and if the name is really important to you, then use it. What about Elizabeth Roma, nn Eliza or Lizzie? I know you said Elizabeth is over used, but if it's a name you really love and it's significant, then use it anyway.
