[Opinions] Hermione existed before Harry Potter
Is it in one of Shakespeare's plays. And I like the British actress Hermione Morris (Cold Feet, Wire in the Blood). But then I love old and unusual names.

David Bowie used it, too. However, Hermione is currently completely tied to Harry Potter. A Winter's Tale simply isn't as insanely well-known as Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet. Even if it's got a long and wonderful history (which it does), the name starts and ends with JK Rowling for the average American.Personally, I think the name would be nice as a middle name. As a first name, it's a bit too much--and supposing poor little Hermione doesn't like Harry Potter so well as this generation of children does? I almost always think of the song "Letter to Hermione" before I think of Hermione Granger, so the name also has some unpleasant connotations to me.On the whole, I like Hermine, Herminia, and Hermia a bit better--but I know that they probably wouldn't fly so well in modern society.Array
