I would actually say Lee-ah at first glance because the name looks Slovene to me (like my user name)

I adore the name, but it's really much nicer spelled Lia or Leah. I'd say LEE-yah, with a slightly emphasized Y sound, because in this name I'd assume the J made a Y sound.

I would say Lee-uh for Lija upon first instinct just because it resembles Sonja and other names that have a similar look. I wouldn't say Lie-zhuh because Elijah has the h on the end which for me at least changes the phoenetics.

I never have. I wpuld say it LIE-ZHA, like the end of Elijah.

I would've first guessed LY-a.I always think of "ij" together as being a y (with two dots over it.)

This is one of my best friend's names. She lives in Macedonia, she moved there last year. Everyone pronounces it LEE-juh or something like that when they first see it. She was irritated, but she was used to it haha. Her mom told me it was a Biblical name and she was the wife of... someone important I forget who. Her dad is Muslim, though, and at first I thought it was a Muslim name and I was surprised to find out it was a name in the Bible! But I like it. It's a different way of spelling Leah but it's still in the range of tolerable names. I wouldn't have thought of it, so kudos to them!

I always want to say (Ly-Juh) like Elijah. I believe Leah was the wife of Jacob in the bible and the mother of his children.
I do prefer Leah over Lija.

I haven't ever seen that form of Leah before. I would pronounce it to sound like Elijah without the E.
