[Opinions] Question about Pronounciation
How would you pronounce Ismene? I might use it as a middle name for Madeline. My friend says is-may-knee, but that doesn't look right.

At first glance, I'd say IZ-men, then I'd say iz-MEN-ee. However, that's quite possibly wrong.

I'd say is-MEH-neh

In English: is-MEE-nee. In Greek (both ancient and modern): ees-MEE-nee
This gives a pretty good guide for basic Greek pronunciations of Greek text:

I used to think it was iz-MEN but on this site most people say it's prn. iz-MEE-nee. I like it in theory, but it sounds too much like saying the person is a "meanie" imo. :-/ Could work as a mn, though.

I pronounce it iz-MAY-nay.I think that Madeline Ismene would be a very pretty name.

I have always said IZ-mih-nee, but...(m)I've heard iz-MEE-nee, iz-MEEN, iz-MAY-nee, and eez-MEHN (the last one being the French prn).Array

I would say is-ME-knee. is-may-knee may be right but I agree that it doesn't really look right.Madeline Ismene is nice.

According to this website
http://reference.aol.com/columbia/_a/ismene/20051206061509990007
the correct English pronunciation is is-mee-nee. In other countries it can be different, though. In France it is ees-mehn and they mostly write it as Ismène. And I believe that the ancient Greek pronunciation was is-me-ne (with the 'e' as in Emma).

I agree that is-me-ne (with the "e"s sounding like the e in Emma) would be the original prononciation.
The english prononciation sounds not so great to me in fact, like "is meany" ... "is a meany" oO;; too many "i"/"ee" sounds for me

90% sure it's iz-MEE-nee, as that's how I've always heard it pronounced (aside from one iz-MAY-nay).
