[Opinions] Edelyn
My best friend is pregnant with her second child. She already has a daughter named Virginia Josephine (that's first and middle name). She's pregnant with another girl and she and her husband are planning on naming her Edelyn (ED-e-lin) and call her Edie. This is the first I've heard of that name and I don't know how I feel about it. What do you think?

It looks like they messed up Evelyn.Edie is adorable.Better ideas might be:
Edina
Eden
Edana
Edita
Edwena

Sorry, it sounds as if they had mixed up Eden and Evelyn.

I love Virginia Josephine, that's so cute.I don't like Edelyn at all. They'd be better off with Evelyn.

I think it looks like a misspeliing of Evelyn

Edelyn is just another Lyn name to me trendyand not very attractive
Adeline would have been much nicer or for the nickname Edie, Edith / Editha Edina Edwina

Hmm...it's nice at first glance, but the more I look at, the more I see either a distortion of Eden or Eveyn. Edie is great on its own, though, and would be stunning with the more femme Virginia Josephine. Any ideas on what the middle name would be?

I'd prefer Edith nn Edie (or Evelyn nn Evie.) They'd be lovely with Virginia Josephine. If not Edith then Edina, Edytha (I prefer the spelling Editha) or Edwina would be nice.Edelyn - trendy and made up, just another name (or name part) with -lyn stuck on. I'd expect her to have a sister called McKayla or Kamryn, not Virginia.EDITED: Or Adeline would be nice, pronounced AD-e-lyn. Adeline would be lovely next to Virginia and is very similar to Edelyn in pronunciation.

couldn't it have been Edith nn Edie? It's a classic, to match Virginia and Josephine. However, Edelyn is kind of cute, yet very trendy (not to say it's popular - it just goes with the whole "add-a-lyn" phase)

I like the name Edelyn, though I think I slightly more prefer it spelled Edlyn (pronounced "ed lyn"). I knew a girl in school whose name was Edlyn, and I always thought it was pretty. Though it isn't common, and even seems slightly made up, I think it has a nice sound to it and isn't overly creative.

I think it's a very pretty name. She'll probably have to do a good deal of spelling and pronunciation corrections. It's a dignified and classy sounding name without being too common, goes great with Virginia. I'm thinking it would also be a nice name if some one wanted to honor a male family member Edward Edwin Edmond etc.
