Eloise is fabulous! It's one of my favorite names. I wonder if it's a bit too dated for the States, though. It sounds like a very British name.
Elena doesn't really strike me as exotic, maybe because I heard it repeated over and over again in my Spanish classes. I'm not real fond of this name.
Eleanor has an old lady image, I agree.
Elle is ery cute, but I can see why you'd want a more substantial first name.
If you're looking for other names that contain el-, I suggest Ellen, Elia, Eliana, or Eliane.
