[Opinions] Siddalee....
I love the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, and want to give this name to my daughter, but my mother thinks its far too Southern. (I'm Australian, but my partner is from Louisiana). WDYT? And any suggestions as for middle names?

It looks very made up. I don't really like the sound, and I'm not one for altering name spelling, but I think Sidaly would look less cutesy if you must use it. I don't particularly like it, souther or otherwise. It reminds me of scytale, which is neither good nor bad, but just something to throw out there.

Sidaleigh... is it weird for me to like this spelling more?

I like it a lot actually. I think that just about any name that has a good "flow" with it is going to sound very southern. :)Siddalee Anne
Siddalee Mae
Sidalee Belle (wow, more Southern that red velevet cake!)
Sidalee Renee
Sidalee Jolene ETA: Sidalee Dawn

I think Sidalee Mae also falls under the category of more Southern than red velvet cake...

So your mum would approve of Siddanee? ;oP J/K!Siddalee doesn't really do anything for me, either, but there are a lot of Southern US names I don't really care for (Darby, Darcy, Wade Hampton, etc.). Funnily enough, I do like the sound; I just think the spelling is cumbersome. Perhaps Sidley would be more up my alley; I dunno. :o)As for mn suggestions: Perhaps Siddalee Dahlia (now THAT sounds Southern!) or Siddalee Rhoda. Meh. I can't seem to come up with something that just pops, KWIM? Maybe Siddalee Cassia?

I agree about the spelling. How about Sidali?
Mn suggestions: Ruth, Beth or Mae (definitely southern.)
Since your partner's from Louisiana, how about Siddalee Lou (it's totally southern, it makes sense, and it sounds quaint once you get used to it.)
In any case, I think a one syllable mn is best for this one.
