[Opinions] Candace
WDYTO Candace or Candice? I was thinking about it the other day and I'm starting to like it although I certainly don't like the nn Candy. I'd appreciate any combos you can make using Candace (fn or mn). Thanks!

I've said it many times here, but my sister is named Candis (the spelling is the same as our aunt, whom she was named after). If I ever have a little girl, her mn will be Candis. Spelling it Candace or Candice isn't an option for me--though I usually hate 'alternate' spellings--but my sister's name is Candis, and that's "her" spelling. She pronounces the others can-DAYCE and can-DYCE, lol. She was called Candi growing up, and our family and her old friends still call her that, even though she hates it. It's mildly better than spelling it Candy, though, I think. BTW, her mn is Eloise, after another aunt.

I love Candace! And, like you, I don't really care for the nn Candy, either. :o/ For some reason, I've thought for quite a while that Candace and Bernice would make a good sister set. :o)But you asked for combos: (I'm prn it CAN-dis rather than can-DAY-see - obviously which prn you use affects the flow w/the mns).Candace Eulalie

I never really liked it, I always disliked the way its spelt. I think the meaning is interesting and it sounds pretty, too. However, I just discovered recently that it can be spelt Candis and I really love this spelling. If I had to choose between Candace and Candice, it would be tough, but I think I'd go with Candace. Some Candace combos I like:Aurelia Candace
Candace Alexandra
Candace Elizabeth
Esme Candace
Freya Candace
Isla Candace
Candace Joy
Juliet Candace
Laurel Candace
Candace Linnea (Love this one!)
Lily Candace

Candace, I like. I wouldn't use it, but I like it well enough. I also like Candy, and I think I'm one of the last living people on the internet who does. :D I can't help it--I'm an Iggy Pop fan like whoa. Dacey would be a cute (if trendish) nn, too.Candace Irene

Candy, or something closeWhen my daughter was small, I often called her "Cookie", until an older friend told me to *stop*, or"I'd end up with an 18-year -old Cookie".So I did stop, and my daughter is now glad.

LOLIn college, I had a friend named Victoria whose nn was "Cookie." Why? B/c she had a big sister named Candace, nn Candy & her folks thought Candy & Cookie would be "cute."

I almost put down Candace Pamela on my list! But said it aloud and thought "Nah, better not! It sounds like candid camera!" lol You did use a few of my combos though, Irene, Emilia (I used Amelia) and Ivy. ANd I used Olivia and you used Olive, so great minds must run in the same rut. lol

I was actually thinking ofCandace Pomelo, but I didn't put it down b/c I figured no one would like it. Pamela is very similar in sound, and I like it almost as well. :o)

I think Candace/Candice is very very pretty, so elegant and sophisticated but not flowery. You don't see it used much, especially as a full name, most of them end up Candy. I agree with you about Candy, it sounds like either a stripper, an ex-cheerleader who still hasn't gotten over her glory days, or a dog. lol My grandparents, I think, or maybe it was an aunt and uncle, had a three-legged dog named Candy when I was very little. I don't remember just how she came to be three-legged maybe a car accident, or a fight with a coyote. Shoot, now I'm going to be wondering about this all day and probably have to call somebody in Oklahoma to find out. :)Candace is my preferred spelling, don't know why.Candace AmeliaCandace AprilCandace ClaireCandace ElaineCandace EllenCandace FayeCandace IreneCandace IvyCandace JoyCandace JenniferCandace LaurenCandace LouiseCandace MarieCandace MarleneCandace NoelleCandace NaomiCandace OpalCandace OliviaCandace PaigeCandace PearlCandace RoseCandace RubyCandace ValerieCandace Yvonne
