[Facts] Cuba
Hi
my name is Vickie and i live in Denmark (Europe). I have just become a mom and we named him Cuba. But the Danish administration will not approve off the name unless i can prove that it is a name in other counties. so i would like to know if it is true that in America Cuba is a first name?
and if you would know where i can find that information.
Thank you.

I've read that Cuba means "caves" and that it is derived from Spanish. "Las Cavas" means "the caves" in Spanish. The Native Americans of Cuba cultivated tobacco in the caves of the island.
The meaning of this name is unknown for certain. It could mean "earth", according to a word from the aborigine language of the Araguaco Taíno Culture. Others believe it means "cupola, dome", a connotation, attributed recently, according to a Hispanic-Arabic denomination.
Hope this helps a little,

There is a well-known actor named Cuba Gooding Jr., so there are at least two men named Cuba in America.
