Thank you for these wondeful children!
-Alise has calmed down a little and I realized that she is like me when I was about 15. She seems to trust me and confides in me for anything. She has taken up basketball and is quite good at it. He grades are also improving. I recently gave her a composition notebook to write her thoughts in. When she is ready, she'll share them with me [this is a common thing for psychiatrists to do].
-Ludis is also doing great. The family doctor put him on antibiotics and they help a little bit with his immune system problem. The doc has diagnosed him with Aplastic Anemia. We learned that his bone marrow doesn't produce enough red blood cells. This puts him at high risk for infection and over excessive hemorraging [which means we have to keep sick children away from him so he won't catch what they have and we have to constantly watch him to make sure he doesn't have internal or external bleeding because his blood doesn't clot]. Because we have quite a few children that need constant medical attention, we have hired two full time nurses to stay with us. Ludis is scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant, which can cure him [but it is risky and not always successful], next week. We have enrolled him in a course that takes place on Saturdays and all summer and it'll teach him more about medicine. After about a year he'll definately know if he wants to pursue a career in medicine or not.
-Rihards is such a lovely child! We offered to let him have surgery
to remove to 6th finger and he has thought about it these past two months and decided he does want the surgery. He'll go the same day as Ludis' marrow transplant. He is a great singer and we've hired a vocal coach for him. He is getting better about the shyness and even performs in front of the entire family!
-Zuzanna is so cute. She is walking and running like crazy. She also said her first word the other day [oddly, it was 'cookie', lol]. She loves to play with eight of our children [aged 6 months-3 years].
Once again, thank you for blessing us with these four wonderful kids!
