[Opinions] Orrin?
Hi everyone! What do you think of Orrin? My boyfriend mentioned that he likes it recently and it's really grown on me. He tends to only like names that he's seen or heard before and someone in his high school was named Orrin way back when. I think he's rather intent on the spelling Orrin since that's how he saw it, but is open to others. I also like Oren and Oran (they all have different roots but that doesn't concern me too much). Of the three, which do you think is most likely to be spelled correctly? Also, does it sound too close to Owen and does Oren look too much like Owen? BF wants to use the middle name George for a son after his grandfather but I kind of think Orrin George sounds too old man. I personally like Orrin Paul.

If I heard someone say, for example, "Orrin Pigford," I would assume his name was Oren. There was an Oren in my neighbourhood, so it's the spelling that I immediately jump to.I prefer it, too, because Orrin reminds me too much of Orin Scrivello, the dentist in Little Shop of Horrors. I appear to be the only one with that association, though. :)Oren George and Oren Paul both sound fine to me.Array

Orrin looks kre8tyv to me (even though it's not), but overall the name makes me think of Orrin Hatch (um, not a good thing) or the word "oral". :-/ And Orrin George sounds like the child of the quintessential Republican. :b

I think Orrin will be most likely to be spelled correctly because of Orrin Hatch, the senator from Utah. Oren and Oran are unfamiliar to me as names. Oren doesn't look or sound like Owen to me. Finally, I agree with you that Orrin George is old, and that Orrin Paul sounds better.

Orrin is all Mormon Republican Senator from Utah to me. I think that's probably a bad thing. Not sure, though.

I like Orrin for either gender, prefer a boy a lot more though. Orrin Paul is nice!

I love Orrin George! In my opinion, it has better flow than Orrin Paul. Your boyfriend has good taste...But I must say Orrin spelled that way looks a little odd. I prefer Oren -but at first glance it reminds me of Oreos... Lol. I don't think it looks much like Owen, though. I'd say it's overall a good, unique name.

Hi there! Actually, the reason I like Orrin Paul is that Paul is my boyfriend's name and, because I love him, I think his name is spiffing! He hasn't actually said he likes Orrin George or suggested it, but I know he wants to give his son the middle name George so I automatically tag it onto all boys names.

I think it's ok. I don't like it spelled Oren and Oran is a country so I wouldn't use that. I actually think Orrin is the best spelling and it doesn't sound too close to Owen. Both Paul and George are good MN imo but I think I like George the best. I think Oran will be the most difficult to spell correctly, the other two depend on how you pronounce it. I tend to pronounce Orrin more like Orin than Oren.

I think Orrin George is a cool name :)
sound old man? Not really, in fact Orrin balances out George.I'm sick to death of Owen, so Orrin is a nice change. I don' think people will get too confused. Good luck!
