It's one of my favorites, spelled Adele especially.
It's fine as a first name (nickname Della, which I much prefer over Addie), but, being two syllables with the emphasis on the second, it has a huge appeal as a middle name. I have combinations for both.
My grandmother was Adele D_____, and no one objected to it. I think it's fine.
