[Opinions] Short and sweet Hebrew names
I've been liking short and sweet Hebrew names, preferably that end in 'I', but I'm having trouble choosing a favourite. What do you think of the following names and which would you prefer?Libi (pron. 'LEE-bee', means 'my heart')
Lili (pron. 'LEE-lee', means 'mine')
Peri (pron. 'PEHR-ee', means 'fruit')
Suri (Unfortunately, everyone is well acquainted with this name via TomKat :()
Rani (pron. 'RAH-nee', means 'my song')
Shiri (pron. 'SHEER-ee', means 'my song')
Nuri (pron. 'NOOR-ee', means 'my fire')

I like Shiri a lot. I also like Lili and Nuri. My problem with them, though, is that they sound like nicknames (even though they aren't) because of the cutesy -i ending.

Libi is darling. Rani is also lovely, and Shiri is growing on me the more I look at it. Suri really doesn't do much for me, but Lili is a nice alternative to Lily.

I don't really like any of these names. I love Hannah, and Sarah, which are both Jewish names.

I know a girl named Rani, although I don't think her family is Israeli... I think her grandfather came from Zanzibar and her other side of the family is from India. Anyways, it's a pretty name! I like Shiri, but it has the tendency to look like it would be pronounced sheh-REE, like the name Sheree.

That makes since as I believe Rani is also an Indian name. I think it means 'queen' in Hindi. Interesting take on Shiri. I can see where the pronunciation would cause problems. For the longest time, my favourite Hebrew combo was Anina Shiri. I love that name. :)

My favourite is definitely Rani; I've also had a great affection for Shani as of late, though I don't know why, lol. I think it's the similarity here that gets me, though I love the meaning, too.I also dig Shiri, Nuri, Lili, and Suri. Libi just doesn't work for me, for whatever reason, and Peri is too close to Perry (which I love, but for a boy) for my tastes. I do love Pari, though.Array

Oooo! I forgot about Shani! It means crimson or scarlet. I'll have to add that to my list, if you don't mind. :)

I like Rani, Shiri, and Nuri. Especially Rani.

I love Hebrew names as well, even though I prefer slightly longer and elaborated ones. I think Shiri and Nuri are the best here. Suri would be nice too but unfortunately there's the Tom Cruise association.

They have such great meanings.I would avoid Suri, I hate to say. I love Lili, Shiri, and Libi. Nuri is cute as well. My vote would go for Shiri, though. It's less likely to be pronounced wrong.Lili, though, is my favorite, especially with the meaning.
