I'm Australian and I've always prn. Tobias as To-bye-as (bye as in goodbye) and so has everyone I know, but theres a kid at my cousins sunday school and his name is Tobias prn. To-bee-as (Like Toby, with -as stuck on the end). So I was just wondering, as I know some names are prn. differently over here in Canada and the States than they are back home (eg. Isaiah- I-zie-ah vs. I-say-ah, Aaron- ah-ron vs.eh-rin, and Regan- Ree-gan vs. Ray-gan), is this one of those instances, or is it just this kids parents that prn. it that way?

Basically, how do you prn. Tobias- To-bye-as or To-bee-as? It'd be helpful to mention what country you live in too ;)

To-bye-as and I live in North Carolina in the USA. Tobias is listed int he database as the German pronunciation and he could be of German descent

It's not really like Toby + as. I say it more like To-beeas, said in one word.
In Sweden the the To- part is said like Too and the pronounciation would be Too-bee-as, not said in one word.

toe-bye-us

There is a school in my area called Tobias pronounced the bye not bee way. My neighbor always, always calles it toe-BEE-us, which I have never heard another person say, it's always bugged me. It's probably just how the parents say it.

I've always pronounced it TO-bee-us, because I never heard it said out loud. (Oh, and I'm American.)

I say toh-BIE-as, and I live in the USA. toh-BEE-as would be really strange to me.

Likewise, I say eye-ZAY-ah and AIR-an. I'd have to ask about Regan, it could easily be either.
