My DH loves Gideon. He wants to name our child Bennett Gideon. It is a family name on his side. We may use it as a MN one day. I am not crazy about Xavier.

Just two syllables? What is that - ZAYV-yer, maybe? I've only heard it used here in the U.S., on real people, as ex-ZAY-vee-er or ig-ZAY-vee-er, but don't think that sounds terribly "classy". I like ZAY-vee-er much more. I love, love Gideon. But I can't say I care for any possible nn's for it (Giddy? Deon?).

Xavier is nmsaa, I'll admit. It's ok, just not for me.

I prefer Xavier when it's KSAY-vee-ur. Just sounds very handsome to me. What would the two-syllable way be? zay-VEER? zay-VYAIR? It's not bad, but it doesn't appeal as much to me.

I dunno why, but I *always* prn Xavier w/3 syllables. It really makes more sense with just 2, though, plus I like it better that way. Gideon is, of course, just fantastic.
