[Opinions] Gideon and Xavier
I'm curious as to what you guys think. I'd pronuce Xavier the European way, just two syllaybles. I'm not sure about either name, but my boyfriend likes them.

My DH loves Gideon. He wants to name our child Bennett Gideon. It is a family name on his side. We may use it as a MN one day. I am not crazy about Xavier.

Love Xavier and I like Gideon although it does remind me of Bibles

I like them, but I prefer the American pronuciation of Xavier.

I love Xavier but Gideon always sounded sort of hickish to me.

Just two syllables? What is that - ZAYV-yer, maybe? I've only heard it used here in the U.S., on real people, as ex-ZAY-vee-er or ig-ZAY-vee-er, but don't think that sounds terribly "classy". I like ZAY-vee-er much more. I love, love Gideon. But I can't say I care for any possible nn's for it (Giddy? Deon?).

I love Gideon. It's very strong and handsome.
Xavier is nmsaa, I'll admit. It's ok, just not for me.

I prefer Xavier when it's KSAY-vee-ur. Just sounds very handsome to me. What would the two-syllable way be? zay-VEER? zay-VYAIR? It's not bad, but it doesn't appeal as much to me.Gideon is very handsome, too, though it stopped appealing to me personally some years ago.Array

I dunno why, but I *always* prn Xavier w/3 syllables. It really makes more sense with just 2, though, plus I like it better that way. Gideon is, of course, just fantastic.
