Perry is my absolute FAVORITE boy's name. I posted a poll about this name and got very mixed reactions- a tie between "Good" and "Hate it" with almost nothing in between. Whether you love it or hate it, I'd love to hear why.

I think I am one that is in-between. I don't really love it, but I don't hate it. Its different, yet heard of, so I think its a great name despite it not being on my list.

I love Perry. It's a family name for me, my great-grandmother's maiden name.

As much as I love it, I don't think it's the easiest name to live with, especially for a boy. It's so similar to outdated names like Barry and Larry. Add to that its similarity to feminine names like Carrie and Mary, and you get a name that doesn't sound strongly masculine, imo. When I consider using it myself, it's always as a girl's middle name...I'm certain the fact that I associate Perry with my Nana has something to do with that, of course.

I guess I could say I love it, but I'm ambivalent about its usage.

My immediate association is Dr. Cox from Scrubs. I love him and all, but because of that I'd never be able to use it. Peregrine nn Perry is wonderful for someone else's child, though.

Well, I have to admit that that is where I got the name. I LOVE Scrubs, and Dr Cox is my favorite character... I like JD just as well, but not in the same way. You know what I mean.
I like the name though. It's old fashioned, masculine and stately... soft but strong.

I have the same association, but I think it makes me like the name more. And I do like it quite a lot.

I really love it--I think it's handsome and smart sounding without being macho or overbearing. Just a dignified little name, you know? And I think it stands well on its own--while I also like Peregrine, Perry on its own works beautifully.

I've never cared for most -arry names for boys at all (Perry, Barry, Larry, Terry...though I'm not sure why). This one particularly sounds very 1970s and a bit smarmy to me. :-/ Also being a nurse peri- is a term and a prefix I hear quite a bit (i.e. perimenopause, perinatal, perineal) and is even used as an abbreviation for perineal when doing "peri care"--which consists of cleaning a patient's genital area. :-\

It's very seventies to me too, but I can see the strong/romantic sides to it. I think it would be a great name in an old, romatic book, but not for a little boy today.
