[Opinions] June
I went to see a play the other night, and it was really good but what got me going (well, partly) was the characters name June. I thought it was very pretty. I've heard the name before, but I've never really thought about it before. And a girl on TV was called Bessie... couldn't help but smile.

I love the name June. It's my favorite month name besides May (Spelt Mae). Plus June is a happy month. Most wedding take place in this month and school gets out! It also reminds me of the talented Looney Tune voice actress, June Foray!

I've been liking it as a mn ever since seeing Walk the Line. It's simple and sweet with an antique charm.Bessie has always sounded to me like a cow name. A very sweet cow, but a cow nonetheless. :)

I know a couple people with June as a middle name - a Megan June and a Clementine June. I think it works very well in the mn spot and would make a nice fn as well. It's sweet. :)Bessie would be a kind of neat nn. I actually have a friend whose middle name is Bessie (well, actually, it's spelled Besse and pronounced Bess, but she always says Bessie).

I never really thought much about June until I saw "Walk the Line", and now i like it very much. Something about seeing and hearing a name actually being used, and in a positive light, that makes it more real and accessible, imo.

I like June, but prefer it for a boy because I have only ever actually heard it used (in real life) on a boy. I like it almost equally for a girl though and think it is very sweet and has a "vintage" charm to it. Bessie is cute.

June on a boy... I'd have to think about that. I agree with you about the "vintage" feel.

I really like June.
Bessie is okay, I would never use it though. Plus I think of a cow.

June is a very sweet, optimistic name. it's a bit old-fashioned (in a good way) but still carries a great deal of style. in fact, June would work nicely with many of your current loves:Evadne June
Cecilia June
Sunniva June
Miranda JuneI always think of cows or a farm when I hear Bessie. I much prefer Bette.

June is really cute, and you don't see it asa fn much anymore. It was very popular about sixty or so years ago, but it fell way off. I wouldn't rule out using it as a mn.Bessie, unfortunately, is not a pretty name. It sounds like 1. a very fat, old blues singer 2. a redneck or 3. a cow. In fact Bessie is almost a generic name for a cow, along with Flossie and Bossy.
