[Opinions] Dexter?
...I blame The Philadelphia Story. You can only listen to "Doggone it, C. K. Dexter Haven!" so many times without latching on. ;) I was thinking about it last February, but it kind of slipped my mind for a while.WDYTO Dexter? Any combos? Thanks. :)Array

Nope, not really doing anything for me. Sounds nerdy, but not in a good way. Maybe it could grow on me, though.

To me, Dexter say,"shoes!" But that's because I live on the Maine/New Brunswick border, and Dexter is a well-known maker of shoes in Maine. Loafers. Lace-ups.Tough sandals.
But that's very local. It's a good name.

*swoons*Oh, I adore Dexter! *strokes name affectionately* I actually suggested ol' Dex when I was pregnant with Teddy, but DH shot the poor dear down, even as a mn. :o( Poor name.Any combos? Of course...
Dexter Morpheus
Dexter Simon
Dexter Athanasius
Dexter Nathaniel
Dexter Benedict (quite dashing, don't you think?)
Dexter Grey (another handsome name, imo)
Dexter Livingston
Dexter Zacchaeus
Dexter Leopold
Dexter Peregrine (I dunno if Peregrine does anything for you, but I love it) :oD

I love it. I associate it more with the character from the Showtime tv series and also the animated one from "Dexter's Laboratory". :b I think it's a great 'quirky' name. I don't know if I'd have the guts to use it, but I can definitely picture you with a little Dexter. ;)

I associate Dexter heavily with the HBO show about a serial killer. I've never seen it, but I know enough people who talk about it that I might as well have seen it, you know? I don't think its going to be a pop culture reference you'll need to worry about, though.Dexter is a name I should like, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I would love to see it in BAs, though!

If I'm honest, I like it!

I think it's cute in a way, but I have a dog named Baxter, which is quite similar, so Dexter seems like more of a dog name than a person name to me.

I am not really crazy about Dexter, but that is more than likely due to association. The one thing that keeps coming to my mind is the nn “Dex” which sounds like “decks” in English. Honestly, it isn’t a name I would consider for a child – it sounds like a dogs name to me. BUT if YOU love it and YOU wouldn’t mind being named Dexter, then go for it.What about Dexter James?

Dexter Aaron
Dexter Gabriel
Dexter Gene
Dexter Henry
Dexter Harry
Dexter James
Dexter Luke
Dexter Charlie
Dexter Caleb

Oh, goodness--that might be just a tad too much for me, though I like both names well enough. :DArray

I think Dexter reminds me of a cartoon called Dexter's Laboratory, not Philidelphia Story, which is sort of sad. I wish it was the other way around, but I can't help it.
I don't have any combos that particulary stand out. I kept wanting to make combos with two X's in it, which didn't look right (ex: Dexter Xavier).

Dexter's Lab is a fond childhood memory for me, so it's not an association I find bothersome. :)Thanks.Array

I like Dexter. It's very spunky and unusual, and I like the nn Dex. hmmm, combo's? Thats a toughie. First things that spring to mind:

Dexter Lucian
Dexter Tobias
Dexter Leonidas
Dexter Solomon
Dexter Morgan
Dexter Francis
Dexter Henry
Dexter OctavianHmmm, I think my fav would be Dexter Leonidas, but it might be a bit out there. Any you like?

Dexter Morgan is definitely out, since he's a serial killer character. Of the others...I like Dexter Francis, but I couldn't use Francis, alas. Dexter Frank? I also really dig Dexter Solomon and Dexter Leonidas (but since I've no interest in Sparta, the latter is out, heh).Thank you!Array
