[Opinions] Prunella
I was looking through the database and came upon this name. I'm not really sure if I like it or not. Pru is kind of cute for a nick name, but I can't help but hear "prune" in the name (and you know what kind of connotation prunes have). What do you think of the name Prunella?

There is a character on the childrens tv series (based on the book series) "Arthur" named Prunella. That is what I see when I hear the name. I don't really dislike it, but I don't love it. I definitely see teasing potential due to the prune factor, but I agree that Pru is an adorable nn.

Love it...This is one of my lost favourites. I think it sounds refreshingly sweet and I'd love to meet a little lass named Prunella.

Sorry but it does make me think of Prunes as well.

Prunella Scales........is an English actress who is perhaps best known for her role on "Fawlty Towers". That is the only time I've ever heard it used, and so I always think of her when the name is mentioned. I always thought that her name was the most unattractive name I had ever heard. "Prunella" reminds me of a wrinkled old prune, and then to top it all off, "Scales" just seems so reptilian...

I like the nn Pru but the name is not attractive at all. It makes me think of a very wrinkly person.

It sounds like a beverage marketed towards senior citizens

Yep, agree, or I think it's a character from the little kids show Arthur. Pru is cute, but prefer it as a nn for Prudence.

dittoMaybe Prunella is Cruella's equally evil twin sister?Sorry, but this name is absoultely yuck. If you like Pru enough, use Prudence or even just Prue. All of which I dislike much but that's just me.

Well, as I said under Isla's post, I think of Cruella, and I dislike Prunella. But Pru is kind of sweet for someone else's child, and I like Prudence.

"Charmed" or not, I don't even care for the nn Pru. It makes me think of prunes as well. And Prunella has the word prune in there in its entirety (hello-- a natural laxative :b). It also reminds me of Cruella. :-/

Cruella was my first reaction as well.

Prudence seems a far nicer choice to me. I've always liked Prudence, and you could sing to her. "Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day. The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful, and so are you..." :DArray

HorribleOne of the ugliest names I can think of. If you like the nn Pru, I think Prudence is much better (although still not my cup of tea)
