[Opinions] Roderick?
I have fallen completely in love with the name Roderick. I am so obsessed I was even flipping through the phonebook, pairing it up with last names. I found out about it because I discovered that the singer Rod Stewart's full name is Roderick. And I loved it. I have liked it for several months, but it is only recently that I have fallen head over heels for it. :p Plus, it has a cool meaning.
I've been thinking about combos, and so far I think that one-syllable names or three-or-more work. Unfortunately, I really don't see names that are two syllables working (most of my favorite male names are two syllables).
So, what do you think of the name (nn Rod)? Any mn suggestions are welcomed.
One more thing - is Roderick Lysander too much?
Thank you so much!
ETA - I pronounce it with three syllables - ROD-er-ick (but they're still kind of slurred)

I like names with the suffix rick. I like it.
Oh Miss Memphis
Roderick is a very strong name in my ear. Great meaning, great history. But also pretty loaded, if you'll forgive me. I definitely prefer the nn Rod, not Rick, but know that Hot Rod is right down the road and comin fast, when little Rod grows up. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.
I have never known a child named Roderick / Rod; the two I've known were both grown men. They were both rather prone to posturing. One might say they were cocky. Each one a man's man, of a surety.
How about...
Roderick Kent
Roderick James
Roderick Alexander
Roderick Dante
Roderick Lawrence
Roderick Fox
Roderick Wade
Roderick Octavius
Roderick Duncan

I like Roderick without a nn best. I think Rod is just kind of bland, and Roderick is very handsome. I don't think Roderick Lysander is too much, since Roderick isn't too unusual. I also prefer two or three syllable mn's to one syllable, but more than that the middle name needs to be as strong and handsome as the first. I'm not great at combos but maybe:
Roderick Henry (very strong IMO)
Roderick Sebastian
Roderick Nathaniel
Roderick Maxwell
Roderick Grant
Roderick Preston
Roderick Ambrose

I like it in theory, but it seems hard to pull off, and I really, really don't like the NN Rod. I first encountered it years ago when I read Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher," and he was an awesomely creepy character. So while I have a bit of a soft spot for it, I don't know that I find it usable . . as a FN. I think it's open season as a MN, though. Roderick Lysander is a bit much, yes. I think it works fine with two syllable names, though. Henry Roderick / Roderick Henry -- perfectly fine. :)
I love Roderick. I'm sure my top combo was Charles Roderick until Charles Frederick replaced it.
I'm not a fan of the nn Rod though, or Roddy.
I don't think Roderick Lysander is too much.
