[Opinions] Campbell
No, this isn't supposed to be on the Surname Board... In the newspaper, there was a sibset (girls) of Campbell and Clementine. What do you think of those? There was also a girl named Chloe in the picture.

Campbell sounds too surnamey, IMO. I know its a legit first name but I know quite a lot of people with the surname Campbell so it always looks to me like more of a last name. Most are bad associates, too. I have a wicked, old aunt who used to beat me with a stick and that was her surname so I guess that's quite a bad association and another person I really clashed with back in High School. So it doesn't appeal to me, although I love Clementine :)

Campbell reminds me of the old soup label with the smiling little fat kids. Clementine I find pretentious and associate it with the super trendy movie Eternal Sunshine.

I think the daughter of the protagonist of "The Bonfire of the Vanities" was named Campbell, so, along with McKenzy, etc, it's one of those pretentious pseudo-upper class WASPy names that are bad enough on boys but really horrible on girls. The soup association doesn't make things any better. I'm not crazy about Clementine but it's certainly preferable. I quite like Chloe, though.

"Mmm...Possibilities!"^Sorry, I had to mention the Campbell's Soup jingle :)While I wouldn't use it, I have heard Campbell on a girl before and I think it's interesting and kind of a cool name. Campbell and Clementine is a neat sibset. And just to not leave out Chloe - that's a cute name, as well. :)

Campbell = soup. Bad for a boy, awful for a girlGo with Camille or Camilla if you want the nickname Cam or Cammie / Cammy for a girl.Clementine and Chloe are lovely, feminine names, even if the latter is a little trendy.

Totally agree

I don't mind Campbell on a girl

Campbell = soupI really don't like it on either- just not a nice sound. I'd much rather it on a boy though, I find it rather ugly on a girl.Clementine is gorgeous, she definatley was the lucky one of the two. I'm not one for matchy sibsets- but that one really clashes. It's one of the oddest sibsets I've seen. Chloe is nice but so so popular back home.

I don't like any of the names. Chloe's okay but too popular, Clementine reminds me of the wild west and Reno 911 (one of the officers), and Campbell honestly made me first think of Idi Amin (in the film Last King of Scotland and presumably real life he had a son named Campbell). That's probably more of an obscure reference, but nonetheless I don't like the name.

I'll admit, I really like it for both genders...though I don't really think it goes with Clementine at all. I could never use it, I fear, but I fully wish it was a family name so I'd feel justified using it. :) I like both Clementine and Chloe, but I don't think any of them go together.I can see how people would hate it, but for some reason, I love the sound and look and feel of it. Honestly, for sisters, I would possibly put Kennedy with Campbell.

Campbell is horrible. Soup is all I can think of, and it really doesn't go with Clementine (which is lovely). Chloe is fine, but not my thing.

Campbell is a guys name, if at all and it should be reserved for guys of Scottish descent with a connection to the Campbell clan.Clementine makes me think of the depressing song along with the fruit.I do like Chloe though.

Campbell was my last name, until I married and took my husband's name. So to me, it's that, a last name.
I don't like it for a girl. Actually, I have a male cousin called Campbell-his mother's (my aunt)'s last name, if that's clear.

I like Chloe but Campbell makes me think of the soup.

I love Clementine and Chloe. Campbell is awful in so many ways: it's a boy's name, a surname, it's a totally different style from the others, and all the names start with C.

Campbell is horrible. It's ugly and a surname and reminds me of the soup.Clementine is very nice, though I can't stand Chloe.

The soup didn't even cross my mind! That's worse!

Ugh.My roommate has a cousin named Campbell, just about a year old now, I think. When her aunt told the roommate the name, they explained that they were going to call her Bell(e), and she dug the idea because Campbell is a family surname (they're descended from the Campbells who were kicked out of Scotland for killing another clan or something like that--it's a pretty awesome history, heh). However, little Campbell is always called Campbell, and we've both essentially come to the conclusion that it's a painfully unflattering name for such a beautiful little girl.Clementine and Chloe are both fine, if not really my thing.Array
