[Opinions] Naomi
I'm interested in your opinions on the name Naomi. I prn. it nay-OH-mee, but I know that some prn. it nigh-OH-mee, so I'm also interested in knowing how you pronounce it. Thanks. :)

I find Naomi (nay-O-mee) quite lovely. I'd like to see it get more use; I've never known one.ETA that I much prefer Naomi to Lauren. It's just fresher in my mind and much more interesting.

I love Naomi, but I'm bias as it's my name.I pronounce it nay-OH-mee and that is pretty much the general consensus that I come across. I get a lot of nigh-OH-mee though, and they usually just cannot pronounce it nay-OH-mee (particularly very nasal Autralian English speakers). I don't care though, because different people with different accents will always pronounce it differently. In England, I was actually asked if it was nay-OH-mee or NAY-oh-mee because people I knew there encounted the stress difference.I have also met a Naomi who was called nay-OH-mie (mie as in MY).Popularity wise, I like the fact that I have hardly had to contend with another Naomi in my life. Yet, it's a name people know.I prefer it over Lauren for meaning and popularity (and sound, but that's a more bias and subjective measure). It's hard with combos: al I hear is Naomi Amelia :D (Amelia was after a family member). Some somewhat random suggestions:
Naomi Alexandra
Naomi Joan, Naomi Joanna
Naomi Alice, Naomi Alison
Naomi Imogen
Naomi Tanith
Naomi Alannis, Naomi Alana
Naomi Hailey, Naomi Hayley
Naomi Victoria
Naomi Brooke

I love, love, love Naomi (nay-OH-mee, definitely). It's absolutely gorgeous, and very underused. I loathe the name Lauren, sorry--it manages to sound trendy and dated at the same time, and is ugly and childish sounding. I also think a three-syllable name sounds better with a two-syllable last name. What about Naomi Lauren?Naomi Alexandra
Naomi Annabel
Naomi Aviva
Naomi Charlotte
Naomi Claire
Naomi Catherine
Naomi Caroline
Naomi Elisabeth
Naomi Grace
Naomi Gabrielle
Naomi Isabel

Naomi Juliet
Naomi Jasmine
Naomi Lilac
Naomi Laurel

thanks for the comments + middle name ideas? Thanks for the comments, everyone! DH and I have vastly dissimilar naming styles, so we've been trying to think of names that both of us like. He has been very adamant about Lauren, which, though I think it's a beautiful name, is very common in our area, so I pressed him to come up with some more ideas and Naomi is one of those that he threw out there. I had never seriously considered Naomi before, but I do think it is pretty and I like that it is significantly less common, particularly in our area.Which do you prefer of hubby's choices: Lauren or Naomi? Middle name ideas for Naomi? Last name starts with M, two syllables.

I have a friend named Naomi. I've always pronounced it nay-OH-mee, but my boyfriend says nye-OH-mee. My friend says that she answers to both. I'm not sure how her parents intended her name to be pronounced, honestly.I think it's a lovely name, with either pronunciation. It's one of my favorites. :)

I like it a lot, and I put the stress on the first syllable: NAY-oh-mee.

I love Naomi! It's very pretty. I can't stand the pn of nigh oh mee. First of all, it's not even spelled in a way that would make you think nigh oh mee. To me, there is no other way to pronounce it than nay oh mee.
