I will own up to a total bias right up front. I've had a lifelong love affair with the name Alexander, and gave it to my firstborn son, whom we call Alex most of the time. I think of it as ultra masculine and have no regard for any feminine derivatives, though I am (oddly, I admit) able to stomach Alexandria as a place name.
