[Opinions] Liesbeth
I've really started to get into Liesbeth nn Liesl. Liesbeth Adeline was the original plan (long story - refer to this thread if you're interested http://www.behindthename.com/bb/view.php?id=2964644&board=baby), and it still very well may be, but I'm not interested in combos right now (unless you really feel like throwing some out there!). I'm just curious as to what you think of Liesbeth "Liesl". Does it work? Would you prefer Liesl as a nn for Elisabeth instead? Also, do you think I would have to have some Dutch background in order to use Liesbeth? I have a lot of German coming from both sides, so Liesl shouldn't be an issue, but I'm just wondering if it would be better suited as a nn for Elisabeth in this case. But oh, how Liesbeth is growing on me... :)Thanks so much!edited to change some wording

My family is almost 100% Irish, yet not one of us kids has an Irish name. Huh. I'll have to tell my parents they flunked baby-naming 101 and must reapply to the baby-naming police to correct it. OF COURSE YOU CAN USE LIESBETH YOU SILLY GOOSE! (Yes, I am yelling at you. Deal with it.):-DIf you love Liesbeth then you should use it. It's a classic with history to it so it will grow with her as she matures. And nn Liesl is darling. What's not to like? I think you're all set to go once you settle on a mn.

I don't really like Liesbeth, but this is the first time I've ever seen it before. I think Liesl would work just fine as a nn, in fact I love that name. (Though I prefer Liesel, and not as a nn, just by itself.) Adeline is a great name and I'm glad to it's in your combo! I like this spelling of Elisabeth, and I think Liesl would work great as a nn for it as well. I might slightly prefer Elisabeth over Liesbeth.

Liesbeth is so pretty, and Liesel is adorable :) I always fear if I use Elisabeth someone will call her Lissie or Beth, even if your asked not to. With Liesbeth, the Liesl is a bit easier to see. I think it is gorgeous, and though you didn't ask I think Virginia and Liesbeth are stunning together ;) Got any mns planned yet? (you can just tell how bored I am lol)

I don't think yopu need Dutch background to use it, I like it, but I do think English speakers will see the word 'lies' in there, and even pronounce it like that. I don't like Liesl for it, but it would work. I prefer Lies over Liesl.

All I see when I see the name is Lebensborn and Lesbian. I used to love the name though, but I can't picture using it because of those associations.
I think Liesl works for Leisbeth, although I prefer Liesel or Lottie for Lieselotte. I don't think you would need Dutch background, I think German is sufficient. But then again, I am German and not Dutch!
