[Games] Say/Think
Some of these are names and/or combos we're actually considering for le nouveau bebe. Feel free to give honest impressions; sometimes I get blinded by a name and can't see what could *possibly* be negative about it until someone points it out to me. ;o) Feel free to suggest alternatives, if you want! Have fun. :oDThis is my son, Jude. What's that? Oh, his mn is Cornelius.

This is my son, Jude. What's that? Oh, his mn is Cornelius.
You say: Hi Jude is nice, but I think he will get the "Hey Jude"! a lot. Cornelius is very nms. This is our daughter, Mae Sapphira. Mae is the mn of her grandmother and two great-grandmothers.
You say: Pretty name, Hi Mae
You think: I like Mae since it is also my grandmother's name. I adore Sapphira as it's a MN I chose as well for a daugther. This is our son, Gideon Marcus.
You say: Hello Gideon.
You think: I like Gideon, but more for a girl, Marcus is nmsThese are my twin daughters, Evangeline Belrose (Evey-Rose) and Jeannalyn Margaret (Jeannalyn). They're both named after grandmothers. Don't you love family names?

Right, ok:
This is my son, Jude. What's that? Oh, his mn is Cornelius.
You say: How unusual!
You think: Jude is quite nice, but I'm not too kean on it paired with the MN Cornelius, it sounds a bit too fairytale-ish for me :)This is our daughter, Mae Sapphira. Mae is the mn of her grandmother and two great-grandmothers.
You say: It's lovely how you chose to honour family members!
You think: It's lovely how you chose to honour family members, and it's a very nice name. I think that Sapphira goes well with Mae.This is our son, Gideon Marcus.
You say: Hello Gideon.
You think: NMS but it's nice enough! These are my twin daughters, Evangeline Belrose (Evey-Rose) and Jeannalyn Margaret (Jeannalyn). They're both named after grandmothers. Don't you love family names?
You say: Yes, it's lovely to honour family members in names!
You think: Love Evangeline Belrose (Evey-Rose) but don't like Jeannalyn Margaret...I think it's a bit too long for me.These are my twin sons, Gregory Darvin (Rory) and Malcolm Isaac (Mac).
You say: Very handsome...
You think: Gregory and Malcolm go very well together IMO, Isaac is ok, but I don't like Darvis. NN's are nice too. This is our little princess, Priscilla Coralie.
You say: Awwww, sweet!
You think: A bit too many 'l''s IMO, and Priscilla is NMSAA. Coralie is really nice as a MN, but the whole combo is a bit too sickly for me.
Hope I helped...:)

Question for youCurious as to why you think Evangeline Belrose is all right, but Jeannalyn Margaret is too long. It is just that Jeannalyn Margaret looks longer? They both have the same number of letters, and Jeannalyn Margaret is actually 1 syllable shorter (5 in Jee-nuh-lyn Mar-gret in my accent as compared to 6 in E-van-juh-lyn Bel-rose). I'm not getting on you or anything - I've just had other people say things like "I think such-and-such is too long but I really like ______." and their suggestion is just as long as what my original combo was! :o) I guess I'm trying to get around to asking: what makes a name too long? Number of letters? Number of syllables? Or just the way it looks?

LOL, this is tough one to explain, coz what I said about Jeannalyn Margaret being too long for me was something I just immediately thought of when I saw it, I didn't think about the number of letters/syllables! I think it's mostly the way it looks, coz if I had someone say to me 'Jeannalyn Margaret' and 'Evangeline Belrose', I wouldn't say that Jeannalyn Margaret was any longer than Evangeline Belrose, but reading it on a screen, I obviously got that impression...So, I guess in total, I would have to say that it's a combo of syllables and how it looks written out that dictates a names length (IMO), and that the reason I thought that Jeannalyn Margaret was 'too long', was because the 'Jee-nuh' part seems to spread out quite a lot (not that it's a bad thing!). That make sense, coz in Evangeline Belrose, every single letter is there to make a different sound (if you know what I mean)and change the name's sound, whereas in Jeannalyn (not Margaret), some of the letters come together to make one sound. eg, even Jeanalyn would look much shorter to me, even though I've only taken out one letter, because I think it takes up less space... Sorry, that was probably very confusing and not much help, but if you can understand it, I hope you got something useful out of it! :)
