Well, I like itI think it's really cute, cool and, surprisingly, it doesn't sound old-fashioned or "backwoods"-y to me. I can definitely see myself using it as a mn!

I'm surprising myself, but I really love it. It's going on my list. :)

It's nice. Although it's almost like Cruella. I can't help but think of that. But Luella is pretty.

sorry but I find it trashy and redeneck-y

It's just an impression the name gives, along with some other names ending in -elle or -ella (eg Linelle, or Mayella). In the case of Luella, I think I also get this idea from the fact that it's assonant to Lula, which in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" turns out to be Holly Golightly's real name from when she had been a teen ager married to a much older man in a remote part of Texas. Maybe that's twisted and far-fetched, but this is the "idea" the name gives me...After all, taste and trashyness are both subjective notions.

oh i disagree! names ending in elle or ella are my favorites. very elegant i think! luella is the name of a little girl in my sisters upcoming pre-school class. i think its adorable!!

I love it - it's so cute; but I don't think I could truly use it as a first name. I especially like the nn's Lula or Lulu.

I kind of like it actually, though not really as a full name. Louisa Ellen, nn Louella, is cute (I prefer it with the "o"). There's also the Welsh name Llewella which is sort of similar. I can't really describe in type how the double "L" is pronounced, but if you're in the States it would most likely be pronounced the same as Luella.

I have to say that I would prefer just Ella but Luella is okay too.

I honestly don't WANT to like this name, because of the meaning, it's sort of trendy and made-up. But it sounds so pretty! :)And if that sounds familliar, it's because I wrote that, anonymously, in another place... ;)
