[Facts] A yiddish/hebrew name?
I was watching a television programme in germany (in german) about the holocaust, they were going through lists of names and one of them was really beautiful i was sa-FIGH-a, as in fire, with sa at the beginning. I'm wondering if this is a hebrew or a yiddish name and how it might be spelt?

Just a guess, but Saphir or Tzafrira seem close...
If you want to look up Hebrew or Yiddish names (which I agree, many are very beautiful) you may want to check out hebrewbabynames.com - they have a ton that are not in the BtN database.
It might be Saphira (Sapphira).
I dont think its Sophia because it is pronounced "sOphia" not "Saphia".

Sophia and Saffiya are pronounced sa-fee-a (the same) aren't they? This was sa-FIGH-a as in rhyming in with 'Higher' I don't know anything about yiddish pronounciation, sorry!

I don't either. I just thought FIGH would rhyme with see. :)
