siblings should have their own initials, and names.

No for the same reason as you. I avoid names that start with a hard C or a D because that's me and DH. (I would use a soft C) nor would I name my kid a name with any of the syllables of my name. Nor would I name my kid something that starts with the same letter as my LN. I get names easily confused. lol.

If I liked two names then I would use them, and if they happened to coincide with my initials I would still use them, but I would not set out to do it on purpose. The child probably won't live in the same house as you forever, so the mail thing would not worry me that much, and if the letter was from a company I didn't even work for and my child did then I wouldn't sit there wondering who it was for. If that makes any sense.

I would never use the same initials on purpose.

I just pick the names that I like, if they happen to have the same initials as me, that would be fine, but I wouldn't set out to find names that would give my daughter the same initals as me.

Me an my brother have the same initials, SS. It is kind of cool.

I wouldn't really mind. If the names I really liked for my child just happened to form the same initials as my own name did, I wouldn't let it stop me. I would never do it on purpose though. If mail comes and it's addressed to G.E. LN, which G.E. is it for?

OT: Your signature. Who is baby Katie? Do you know her? It must be so incredibly difficult to have to deal with that situation. My brother has CF and I can't imagine how hard it must be to have Down Syndrome and then having CF on top of it... I'll definitely pray for her and her family.

I wouldn't necessarily aim to have a child with the same initials as me, but I wouldn't be against it.

I have almost the same initials as my mum, except she has a C where I have a K.

It wouldn't bother me at all, as long as the actual names weren't too similar sounding; I would happily use Amelia Kitty / Amelie Kate (Katherine/Kitty is a family name).

It's starting to get a bit tricky now my brother is older and is getting more mail. We keep getting things addressed to Mr M.K. H____ and not knowing who it belongs (unless the company or whatever is marked on the envelope).

Apart from the mail thing it hasn't caused problems so it doesn't bother me. The mail confusion will be solved when by brother moves out.

I think that in this particular case it's cute. I wouldn't mind having a child with the same initials as me, considering I have the same initials as my mother and that was never a problem.

When on another name board a long time ago I came across a similar thread and there was a post from a member saying she avoids choosing first names with the same initial as she had a thing about mail...if you had a Rohan and a Rory and a letter came for Mr R Smith, you wouldn't know who it was for! I've been the same ever since.
