[Opinions] Alvy
I was reading a book with my little sister and there was a boy called Alvy. I've never heard this name before. WDYT?

Sounds like a nn for Alvin or Alva. I actually used to know a little boy named Alva. The only other time I've heard it is as Thomas Edison's mn. I believe it was a family name for this little boy, but it still seemed odd calling him "Alva". :b

I think it's an adorable nickname. Maybe it's short for Alvin or Alvis?

It immediately reminds me of Woody Allen's character in Annie Hall. I really like it--have since I first saw that film two-three years ago. :)Array

A former minister in our provincial government (I *think* former, not sure, maybe he's still serving) is named Elvy Robichaud.

When I hear the name Alvy I think of Woody Allen's character Alvy Singer from "Annie Hall".
But it's a really nice name!

Never heard it either, thought it sounds kinda cute. Could it be short for Alvar, possibly? Or maybe it's a variant or personalised version of Alfie.
