Just a few of my favourites...this isn't a sibset so some names are going to show up more than once. (Like Olive Matilda and Matilda Jane. Don't worry, I wouldn't name sisters that!)

This is my daughter, Olive Matilda.
You say: That's a lovely name.
You think: Olive reminds me of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE. Matilda reminds me of that adorable girl in the Roald Dahl book.
This is my daughter, Astrid Signe.
You say: My friend's name is Astrid as well. Her family calls her Ozzie.
You think: I hope the say OS-trid and not ASS-trid.
This is my daughter, Frances Jane.
You say: Frances is a cute name.

You think: I love her middle name.
This is my daughter, Agatha Irene.
You say: That's a sweet name.
You think: It's a bit old fashioned, but that's probably the point.
This is my daughter, Alice Shoshannah.
You say: I love the traditional Alice instead of Allison.
You think: Alice is cute and Shoshannah reminds me of my friend Sousanne, pronounced so-john.
This is my daughter, Ingrid Beatrice.
You say: Lovely name.
You think: I prefer Inghild.
You say: I've met three Margarets before, but never one called Greta.

This is my daughter, Margaret Elaine. We call her Greta.
You say: Oh, howdy do Greta! A very distinguished name you've got.
You think: It's distinguished. I can't like Margaret, but I'm glad when other people use it. Elaine is nice, but it's kind of strange with Margaret for some reason.
This is my daughter, Beatrice Jane.
You say: What a nice name.
You think: Am I crazy for not liking Beatrice? I know I should. So I'll approve of it. Jane is kind of filler but still refreshing in this day and age of frilly stupid fillers.
This is my daughter, Audrey Tziporah.
You say: Oh, that's a very interesting middle name.
You think: Yeah, it is. I need to look that up on BtN when I get home. And Audrey - another one of those damn good names that I can't seem to like, ever. A guilty displeasure, if you will. Very interesting combination, this is!
This is my daughter, Matilda Jane.
You say: Oh, that's lovely. Howdy doo!!!
You think: I recently became able to like Matilda and I'm very glad. :) I like this a lot.
This is my daughter, Jeanette Gloria.
You say: Nice to meet you, Jeanette.
You think: Yawn. Jeanette bores me to death. Gloria's an interesting outburst, though. I love when other people are named it.
This is my daughter, Olive Matilda.
You say: Oh, how delightfully old-world.
You think: (Some lady said this to me once, responding to the fact that I play viola.) It's a very handsome combo, but I'm not sure that's quite an appropriate compliment to give a little girl. Nevertheless, both names are very distinguished and old-world and I like this a lot.
This is my daughter, Astrid Signe.
You say: Oh, Astrid! I love Astrid. And what's the middle name again?
You think: I love Astrid. But I have no idea how to pronounce Signe and therefore I can't say anything about it.
This is my daughter, Frances Jane.
You say: Oh I love it!
You think: Ooh I love it!! Ooh!
This is my daughter, Eloise Jeanette.
You say: Eloise, that's interesting.
You think: It is. I used to love Eloise. Jeanette is boring boring boring though.

Signe is pronounced SIG-nee (the spelling Signy is probably clearer...oh well). I grew up knowing a lot of people with slightly odd names- Tziporah, Signe, Shoshannah, Zalman, Sylva, so they seem as ordinary to me as the Emily and Ellie I also grew up with.
I get very negative reactions to Jeanette and so I expect my brief love affair with it will probably end soon...it's mostly brought on by the really wonderful Jeanette I know.
Yeah...Jane is fillerish, isn't it? Sigh. I do like it as a FN as well, and it's honouring a Janice (my mum), but...yes, probably fillerish, seeing as I have at least three combinations I just love with it as the MN. Oh well.
I adore the term guilty displeasure, it made me smile. Thanks so much for your comments!
