You think: It's distinguished. I can't like Margaret, but I'm glad when other people use it. Elaine is nice, but it's kind of strange with Margaret for some reason.

You think: Am I crazy for not liking Beatrice? I know I should. So I'll approve of it. Jane is kind of filler but still refreshing in this day and age of frilly stupid fillers.

You think: Yeah, it is. I need to look that up on BtN when I get home. And Audrey - another one of those damn good names that I can't seem to like, ever. A guilty displeasure, if you will. Very interesting combination, this is!

You think: (Some lady said this to me once, responding to the fact that I play viola.) It's a very handsome combo, but I'm not sure that's quite an appropriate compliment to give a little girl. Nevertheless, both names are very distinguished and old-world and I like this a lot.

Signe is pronounced SIG-nee (the spelling Signy is probably clearer...oh well). I grew up knowing a lot of people with slightly odd names- Tziporah, Signe, Shoshannah, Zalman, Sylva, so they seem as ordinary to me as the Emily and Ellie I also grew up with.
I get very negative reactions to Jeanette and so I expect my brief love affair with it will probably end soon...it's mostly brought on by the really wonderful Jeanette I know.
Yeah...Jane is fillerish, isn't it? Sigh. I do like it as a FN as well, and it's honouring a Janice (my mum), but...yes, probably fillerish, seeing as I have at least three combinations I just love with it as the MN. Oh well.
